At AthensAikido Hatha Yoga can work complementary for the aikido trainee offering flexibility and strength both at technique and ukemi, or it can work independently.
Hatha (from the Sanskrit words Ha and Tha) means Sun and Moon, reflecting opposing powers, like masculine and feminine, hot and cold, yin and yang etc. Yoga means union or harmony. So, the asana practice is a reunion between the usually separated body and mind.
Apart from vibrant health, flexibility and stamina, yoga shows us the way to cultivate happiness, contentment, freedom and patience in our everyday life.
A class usually includes breathing exercises, warm up (sun salutes/ vinyasas), asanas (yoga postures) and deep relaxation.

Teacher: Liana Kontova
