SOTAI

Sotai or Sotai-ho is a Japanese form of muscular or movement therapy which was invented by Keizo Hashimoto, a Japanese Medical Doctor (1897 - 1993). He developed a model of treatment that was based on returning natural body alignment by working with the breath and moving toward comfort rather than adjusting toward pain.
He added the application of the essence of Oriental medical science and the modern medical knowledge to the Seitai-Jutsu which has been conveyed in Japan since the old days.
The treatment of Sotai never give pressure to the body. Is a Japanese therapy used to correct imbalances in posture and ease muscle tension, pain, and headaches and other health problems .It works to move body parts in a comfortable direction, retraining the muscles into proper balance.
Sotai can be applied by a practitioner (sotai with helper), or a person can do it by itself ( self sotai).
Once the areas of stiffness and pain are identified, the practitioner works with patients to design a stretching exercise program to lengthen the muscles. There are two ways to stretch and heal the muscles. Post-isometric relaxation is a technique of stretching or relaxing a muscle to its normal resting length, after the muscle has been worked. Reciprocal inhibition is used to relax a muscle that causes chronic pain, by tensing the opposing muscle for example, a patient may stretch a sore bicep by flexing the opposing triceps.
